dooney & bourke

I sigh at the thought of this purse.............

is it OK to covet a purse?

It's only $295 on QVC.......hint, hint,.... Santa........
A Dooney was one of my first big purchases in college.

A weekend of babysitting 4 kids paid for a Dooney.

I'm ready for another one.

I think all these years of my own children will earn me one!

We try the pizza buffet and buy some tokens. The kids had a lot of fun.

Jesus=The Bread of Life

"Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Mewill never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves toand trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more(at any time)." John 6:35 (Amp)

When Jesus says He is the bread of life, He is inviting usto feast on Him. He wants to be our family, our sense ofhome. He wants to be our life. We feast on Jesus by invitingHis constant presence into our life, by focusing on Himinstead of trying to fill our hunger with other people orthings.Feasting on Jesus means we believe in Him, cleave to Him,trust Him and rely on Him. He isn't just a snack. He's thenutrition that fills us. He is provision for all our needs. He is love to our hungry souls. And, unlike me, He neverruns out of the energy to provide the bread we need. Infact, He says He is so nourishing that we will never behungry again.

There have been plenty of times my heart has felthungry. But what I'm discovering is that the more I rely onJesus-the more He becomes the very thing that sustains me,the less my heart rumbles and growls. The more at peace Ifeel. He satisfies my hunger to be completely and deeplyloved, and no one can take that away from me.

"Father, in Your awesome, mystical way, fill my every hungerpang. Be my every meal. Help me to rest in Your presence andprovision instead of turning to people or things that don'tsatisfy."~Paula Moldenhauer

Sisterchicks Down Under - read the book!

Finished Sisterchicks Down Under.
I liked it better than the first one {on the loose}.

just take a number and get in line....................

I just can't even say enough is enough.
Is this a test???
Can there be more problems in life? Problems .... Just take a number and get in line.....>>>

So I'm spending all morning trying to solve my missing wallet problem, with drivers license and credit cards. Thank goodness they didn't get any money out of my atm or my visa, and I don't think they tried to use my other card ..... we worried they would try to buy GAS! since they had the cards and my zip code.
NEXT the school calls and K has a hurting ear and I have to go pick her up.
Since D was barfing on Sunday I figured she has an ear infection. Plus she had been swimming and that ususally gives her some kind of ailment, usually it is her eyes, afterward.
But I pick her up and she is happy and skipping. I'm not acting the sensitive mother...... how can she be sick and skipping to the car???
I tell her--- you are sick, if you are leaving school, you must go home to bed.
As I find the eardrops and consider if I need to take her to the Dr. for ear infection.... I ask her to change her clothes and take the earrings out so she will be comfortable.
{background..... a few days ago she put in my blue topaz earrings. Her ears were pierced in March and we waited the 6 months for her to wear dangly earrings. She had those in a few days and then switched to the blue topaz ones,,,, I think it was last wednesday.}
I want her to lie down for 20 minutes with the drops in her ears and no earrings.
She says she can't take one of them out. She is moaning in pain.
I come and check and find that the tiny BACK of the earring is INSIDE of her earlobe!!!
It is a very tiny back and.....It has worked its way inside the hole and is inside the earlobe, you can't even see it!

I try to take it out.... she is screaming..... I get a nervous stomach hearing her scream with the pain... so I stop and call the Dr. They can actually get us in today... a Monday. I do try my mom and our friend who is a nurse, but they are not answering.

So we are off to the Dr. It is a fight to get her into the car. She is wailing and I have to drag her to the car. Then I BRIBE her with STARBUCKs. There's a store off the lobby of the clinic. She stops screaming and we actually make it in there without any more screaming.

The Dr. is squeamish trying to get it out and finally just does it quick while I hold her down.
I ask her how she made it through medical school if she is squeamish??????????????
I wanted to be a Dr...... but I was squeamish working as a Candy Striper in The Emergency room as a teenager.... so I gave up my dream..... Oh there are so many questions in life.

Then the back is out, it is covered in blood. The Dr. puts it in a specimen cup......K thinks it is cool..... she wants to take it to school and show everyone???? She's going to be a Dr. I bet!

We make it back to pick up J. He has lost his other front top tooth and tells the story of it coming out and blood everywhere on his desk at school. I'm more concerned about it on his white uniform shirt.... but there is none.
I ask K to choose between Starbucks & Foster Freeze. WE all go to Foster Freeze for anything they want on the way home. French Fries for all. J gets his first Root Beer float. He's been wondering about one for a couple weeks.
K an oreo blizzard; D an m&m blizzard; & Reese's pb cup blizzard for me.

DID I Mention that I whacked the side rear view mirror of the Yukon on the garage on the way out and shattered the mirror in it>>>>>>>>>>>

Will it ever end???? NO????? Take a number!!

if your wallet is stolen or lost.... notify Experian.com

yes my wallet was stolen or lost at the mall friday night.
Sadly I didn't figure it out until I'm in the checkout lane at Lowes. But I had other credit cards and ID so they let me pay for my 3 ceiling fans and check out.
I hoped and prayed my wallet was just fallen out and still in the car.... but it was not.
I checked my ATM records online at home and saw 4 attempts to use it.
Called to close that account and the other 2 cards that were in there.
I can't get a DMV appointment to replace my drivers license until 10/24?????

the baby is sick

Don't you hate it when the baby is throwing up and there is nothing you can do.
You can't even explain it to them or let them know it will be over soon.
Poor D. he's not a baby, at 35 months, but, he was struggling so hard to understand what was going on with his body this morning when he was throwing up over 3 different episodes.
But he took a good nap, actually fell asleep exhausted.... and woke up with a good appetite and feeling much better in the late afternoon.

G bought the Robots movie yesterday, so we've been watching it over and over and over.......
until the end showed scenes from Ice Age 2 ..... so we had to dig out Ice Age and watch that.

GO PADRES! GO CHARGERS!!!

Resale shopping, IKEA & Toys R Us

Went up to Descanso today to see K's Antique & re-sale shop. The trip was to look at the recliners she as found for my dad. There were 3. I chose a really nice plaid lazy boy.
I was thrilled to also get a white wicker headboard for k's room and a darling little antique bedside table for her too. It is pale yellow, crackle finish. I haven't decided if we'll repaint it or leave as is. It is quite distressed and fits perfectly in the current Shabby Chic decor theme.

When G got home I went out for some alone time and went to IKEA to get some more ideas for K's room and the boys too. I made it out of there with a list and didn't spend any money. YEAH!

But then headed for Toys R Us.... They're having buy 2 get one free on the Imaginext toys D want's for his birthday (10-30). So he'll be getting a LOT of dinosaurs!
And 3 My first Leap pad games.

starbucks drink for today..... Caramel Frappuccino

Actually arrived early to the Dr office @ 8 for 8:30 appt. San diego traffic wasn't too bad for a Monday morning.
Had to have my 5 stiches removed from where he scraped out the area from my basal cancerous mole on my shoulder. (no more cancer found & it is healing well)

So I had to hit the Starbucks in the building --- it was only a matter of time..... before the appt or after {of course I'm addicted to starbucks}.

This reminds me of the blog entry comment @ www.fallible.com on August 18, 2005
In her comments section where Michael suggests we all will be getting "Star Tattoos" so that you just show your barcode tattoo to the barrista (hey that goes together!) and they know your name, reduce your $$ account, and your "regular" order.
HA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

We wish you a Very Happy Birthday Mom (& Grandma)!!! We Love you Very much!!!

prep & painting kids' rooms starts today

I'm still debating over the colors for the 3 kids' rooms.
I keep looking at the name of the color and deciding on that before the color????
But it seems I keep checking colors, and covering the names, and choosing the same over & over. That's a good sign.
So far it is Silver Spruce for D, Polished silver for J.
K gets to choose when she gets home from school. I can't decide between a pink, a pale turquoise and a lavender. I think I want her to choose the light pink and then we'll stripe in thin strips of the other colors in her bed set.

We are listening to: Jana Alayra = Jump Into the Light

I feel so blessed to have found Jana Alayra - - a spiritual singer of exceptional talent.
We have her 3 albums of children's music and we listen to them ALL the time in the car.
It is a major part of our prayer time. Singing praise to God is double prayer!
What could be better for my children????

Teaching your Children Joy...... Read on the airplane

I read this book starting in the airport and on the way from Omaha to Phoenix last night. (7 - 10 p.m.)

It is an EXCELLENT book. I plan on buying several copies and giving it to friends with new babies and young children.
I think it will make a very good gift for the Preschool Teachers.

The book is set up to form a "JOY Preschool" and you teach one "joy" from one chapter a month.

Sisterchicks on the Loose - Book I'm reading on airplane

MOM & I are off to Omaha.
We need a book of our own - Mom & Daughter Chicks on the Loose!

We talked and talked in the airport. There was a very long security check in line.
We made it through the line. Mom was not happy about having to take off her tennis shoes.

They don't even give a bench or something for everyone to sit and put their shoes back on!
It completely holds up the line for the people in sandals & flipflops.
Those of us who wear sturdy shoes need more time to put them on after they go through the X-Ray machine. {I wear them to keep my feet warm on the plane and make sure I'm prepared to run for my life in an emergency landing!!}

I started the Sisterchicks book, but we talked the whole way to Phoenix and Omaha, I only made it through 86 pages.

Calling Mighty Prayer Warriors!

Sept 16th ~
Please! each of you, mighty prayer warriors: My mother's dear friend D. died this morning. My mother made it to the hospital just in time. D. has been suffering greatly, she had arthritis and is allergic to most medications and has been in and out of the hospital for a couple years.

Mom's cell phone battery died (sorry for the same term) and
Therefore she missed the 4 messages from her sister that her Oldest Sister,
DR died today in Omaha, she has had complications in her intestines for several months, and has been in and out of the hospital.
She was also informed that her Aunt MV, in Iowa, died today also.

Please, please pray for my mother JV. She will be flying to Omaha on Sunday.

Thank you for your prayers for my basal cell cancer mole.
I had it "dug out" this morning and stitched up with 5 stitches.
It is sore and I've done way too much today after the procedure.

THANK YOU for the prayers for my brother, B, J & J.
They were accepted into an apartment today and G is helping them move in.
(they were homeless as of last weekend and have been living with us)

Thank you for your prayers for my father - - TODAY is his 60th Birthday!!!
He is here at out house tonight for dinner and Apple Pie to celebrate.
He is doing very well at the assisted living center.

I'll be flying out to Omaha with Mom for 24 hours and coming back Monday night.

THANKS BC for taking us to the airport and for picking me up at 11:00 p.m. Monday!! You're the best!! [thanks to SS & MS for offering to pick me up!!]

HAPPY 60th Birthday to my Dad!

Today is my dad's 60th birthday.
After my dr. appointment I went by home to check on everyone and then went to target to get some treats for my dad.

I had to comment to the checkout girl - - I had an entire cart full of JUNK Food! that it was for a birthday party. I'm too embarrassed to say that it was just for my dad and my family.

for Dad: 2 boxes Cheeze-Its, 2 bags Milky Way, 1 bag Snickers (luckily it's halloween candy time!);
Oreos (he didn't want them - so they're coming home); Chips OHoy; black licorice; peanutbutter cheese crackers

for US: bags of - milky way, heath, mounds, orange MILANO, fritos, pretzels, 4-juice box packages for lunches, dr. pepper, sprite, peanutbutter cheese crackers.

Dropped this stuff off and ran home to pick up D and change cars to pick up J&K @ school.
Stopped by the mexican place for a breakfast burrito for me, bean burrito for dad and tortillas & chips for the kids.
Used my Baker's square FREE pie coupon to get dad a French Apple pie to celebrate.
Went to his assisted living cetner, asked for plastic silverware, plates & napkins.
Shared pie with dad. We all sang him Happy Birthday.
Then he decided he wanted to come over to our house to eat his bean burrito.
OK - - Load 'em up! so we arrived home just in time to get my mom's phone call that my Aunt D died.
I spent the next couple hours arranging my mom's plane ticket on www.expedia.com
and then my own. She's going Sunday to Saturday.
I'm flying with her Sunday and coming home Monday night 8:00.

Motherhood is NOT a rehearsal! Book I read today.

This book is set up somewhat like a dissertation.
(ive never read a dissertation, but i bet this is what it would look like) 119 pages - from the local library.

I agree with most of her points. BE your child's GREATEST supporter & cheeleader!!....Find their individual talents..Don't compare a child to any other child...Treat kids the way you want to be treated.. don't expect your child to fulfill your unfulfilled dreams... Speak to babies and children in a normal voice using "normal" words. No babytalk!

I don't agree that you should not discuss life issues that are going on in your family and other families. I agree not to be a gossip about others, but if a situaiton is going on in aother family (i.e. sickness, divorce, job loss) we can learn from the situation and have more compassion and charity towards that family because we have disscussed their situation.

Check your MOLES! for Basal Cell Skin Cancer

I had a mole on my shoulder removed last Wednesday and the Doctor sent me a note today that the biopsy report came back that it has basal cell skin cancer.
So his note says that he has to "excise" this skin lesion. I read on the internet that this means to get the cancer cells out, or a tumor if there is one.

I'm going back to my Dr. on Friday the 16th to check the rest of my body and decide wether he will try to excise it or send me to a plastic surgeon - because it is 6 mm.

I'm hoping for prayers about the time, pain, scarring and anything else that will be done.

Saving Dinner!!

FINALLY I signed up for www.savingdinner.com
Printed out the sample menu and we're off to the grocery store.

THANKs to www.Flylady.net.

She's Gonna Blow! - - Book I"m reading

LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. HIGHLY recommended for any mother!!
Please get this book if you have children. Especially if you have more than one.

ESPECIALLY if you can picture yourself as a volcano --
She names 4 types of volcanoes Volcanoes 101 - Understanding How She Blows
1) "The Strombolian..... A tiny volcanic island of Italy.... SPITS out volcanic material such as cinder and lava bombs ... eruptions are relatively short and happen at predictable intervals....
CUMULATIVE damage is REAL" (MY emphasis in caps)
2) "The Hawaiian .... Constantly boiling lava....boils up and overflows the sides ... moves slowly... but the destructive nature becomes clear." Chronic, simmering anger.
3) "The Volcanina .... regularly spews out cinders .... seethes with pent-up molten rock, then expel blobs of "viscous" magma in a big, gassy explosion." "... loud, scary, and dangerous!"
4) "The Plinian is the most violent of volcanic eruptions." "If you had ever erupted in a Plinian manner, you would know it because of the terrible havoc it would have wreaked upon yourself, your children, and your relationships."

Big Bear, California

We are in Big Bear this weekend for a fun boating trip.
The MM family has a beautiful big house where we are staying with their family, another family and friends. We brought our 19' boat up to have lots of fun on the lake. 16 of us in all - - only 6 are adults!

It is so beautiful up here today with the blue skies. At the end of their driveway you can look to the right and see the ski slopes, and look to the left and see the lake.
Here's the view towards the lake.
We took the kids up to the Big Bear Zoo. I never new about that. But we have ONLY ever been up there to ski in the winter.
There were bears, mountain lions, timber wolves, coyotes, eagles, ravens, bison and many more wild animals. This picture of the porcupine is so funny.

Here's what the Bear Mountain Ski Resort looks like without snow.
